Ray Estolano spent time as an attorney at both the Imperial County and San Diego County District Attorney's Office.

At the Imperial County District Attorney's Office, he prosecuted cases ranging from driving under the influence to homicide. In one of his first trials, he defeated the then current president of the Imperial County Bar Association.

At the San Diego District Attorney's Office, Ray Estolano was responsible for handling some of the most complicated interstate child support cases and was also experienced in arguing in the child support court.

As a prosecutor, Ray was known for his pleasant, but aggressive courtroom style. He was sometimes referred to as the "smiling D.A." by frustrated defense attorneys who witnessed his unflappable demeanor. However, Ray always maintained cordial relations with defense attorneys, judges and prosecutors alike.
